Movie review: Shame

Nowadays, it seems to be an underlying cliché that beautiful, successful people have ‘beautiful’ sex. Only the others have ‘bad’ sex habits. That’s why Brandon (Michael Fassbender) a handsome, mid thirty, successfully working in advertising doesn’t fit into that category. At first sight, ‚Shame’ by Steve McQueen shows a sex addict who enjoys the legendary night life of New York. At second glance, it becomes clear that Brandon’s life isn’t what it seems to the outside. Mostly, the camera work remains a few seconds too long on each scene. It gives the movie that distant character. When Sissy (Carry Mulligan), Brandon’s sister, appears in his apartment the movie becomes another touch…

‘Shame’ a movie about much more than just a New York sex addict.
